Beat This Summer With You

Well.  It’s official.  I am back in Rexburg.  There is only one problem… I am husbandless. It’s funny because all week I could not wait to get out of that apartment.  Over the summer we lived in Salt Lake City in a studio apartment.  We had done it before and it was no big deal, but our last studio was bigger than this studio.  It was a little less than 300 square foot.  And ever since I have been done with student teaching (July 2nd), I have been sitting in that apartment like a hermit.  I was working on my teacher duties, but you can only do so much in a small apartment that’s hundreds of miles away from your classroom.   So this week I was going crazy.  But now that I am here without Trent, I just want to go back.  If you look past the itty bitty living space, we really had a great summer.  While we were traveling up here we talked about all the amazing things that happened over the summer.
·         My brother came over for dinner every Sunday – priceless.
·         Tim McGraw Concert
·         Brad Paisley Concert
·         Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen Concert/Cirque De Soleil/Fireworks – Stadium of Fire
·         Met Steve Young
·         Seeing friends from everywhere – Erin, Victoria, The Merrell Family
·         Duke Family and Thompson Family visited us
·         Dropping Dallas off at the MTC
·         We were able attend the Salt Lake Temple and do a session. BEAUTIFUL.
·         We were able to clean the Salt Lake Temple – AWESOME experience and Trent enjoyed learning all the secret passageways ;)
·         Witnessing our dear friends, Kim and Joel, be sealed for eternity.  Oh I about died – it was incredible.
·         Disneyland
·         California Adventures
·         Beach
·         Someone attempting to break into our apartment
·         Traveling around Palos Verdes where Trent grew up.  There is a mural with Trent’s artwork and name on it at his middle school.
·         Teaching Primary
·         Camping/Shooting – Stansbury Island
·         Promotions/Awards
·         Saying Goodbye
Seriously.  This summer has been amazing.  These past two years have been crazy.  It may have had a rough start, but everyday life with Trent just gets better.  Our marriage is like concrete, hard, stronger than ever.  Now, you may be like “Why would ‘saying goodbye’ be a fond memory?”  Well, it’s like a bitter sweet memory.  Now, we are only separated for 2 weeks {and I am going down this weekend to help ease our pain ;)}.  But it was super emotional saying goodbye.  I mean – we are going to see each other in 5 days!  But we just both cried and expressed our deepest love and concerns for each other.  Trent is crazy protective over me {I love it}.  So knowing he won’t be here to protect me is difficult for him. But it’s Rexburg – so I am not too worried. It was just sweet, heartfelt goodbye.
Trent – thank you.  It has been such an amazing summer with you. I have loved every minute of being your wife. I love how you notice all the small things.  Like when you come home and I tried to prepare dinner and attempt to organize our ridiculously small and crowded apartment. You noticed those things – and you thanked me for every little thing I had accomplished – dishes, laundry, making the bed.  You named them all and would thank me.  I love that about you.  And on those extremely frequent days when you came home and the house was messier than before and I was just being incredibly lazy you would say, “Oh good honey.  I am glad you took a break today.  I will make dinner tonight, don’t worry.”  Thank you.  Thank you for putting me through school – for working and going to school full time – and still finding time to do the dishes and other household chores.  Thank you for putting me first.  I have never felt a shortage of love or attention from you.  We make an amazing team.  You have always given me the wings to fly, and I have loved you for it.
